Our Story

​I'm Melinda (Mindy) and the one you'll be speaking with when inquiring about our dogs and puppies. My husband Daniel and I live in Northern New York with our children Trenton, Mason, Allison, Chloe and Gavin. Our home is surrounded by farmland and we overlook the village of Lowville from our upstairs balcony, with views of the Tug Hill windmills from the west side of our home. After High School, Daniel served in the US Army for 12 years and is now a Journeyman Lineman. His job takes him away from home for extended periods at times so when he is home, we  take full advantage of our family time together.  As a young girl I grew up on a small farm. Our family had a horse stable business offering trail rides and raised many animals such as horses, heifers, pigs, sheep, chickens, goats, rabbits, dogs and cats. That’s where my love for animals all started.​ In 2006 I started a small in home breeding program. I took a short break from breeding, while recovering from back surgery and other health issues, while focusing on raising my own human children. Over the next several years our family continued to raise beautiful litters, until recently in 2024, when I needed my second back surgery. At that time our family plan was to only have our stud program. After a much needed break during my recovery, our family realized we were missing what we loved most, and that's raising puppies! 

Being there throughout each birth and watching each litter transition into healthy, playful and loving puppies is a true passion of mine and I can see that same love pass down through my children. Every puppy born into our hands is a miracle. We enjoy getting to know each family that has adopted a puppy from us (and many repeat puppies along the way) and it’s always a blessing to hear updates and receive pictures as they grow. We ALWAYS offer lifetime breeder support for each of our puppy families here at DM Hilltop FURfamily! We are excited to get back at it with our next litters coming in late 2026!
